"Visit China --- A New Experience"
In 1997, China will present to the overseas the image of the rising tourism industry in China in order to lay a solid foundation for getting it among other advanced tourism countries in the world. Visit China '97 will be organized on a grand scale to mark the tourism year the theme of which will be "Visit China- - - - a new experience".
To a tourist, whether he is an earnest lover of natural scenery or of history and culture, China is the most ideal place for him to go. The unique scenery of Guilin, the primeval forest of Jiuzhaigou, the waterfall of Huangguoshu and the Gobi desert of Takla Makan are scenic places that one can only find in China. The Terra Cotta army figures found in the city of Xi'an which were made in 200 BC have been regarded as the seventh wonder of the world; while the 10,000 - li Great Wall is the only man-made project on earth that can be seen from the moon. Also worth mentioning is the place where China 's last emperor lived and worked, the Forbidden City. It is the largest, well - preserved imperial architectural complex in the world. One may go to Suzhou and visit the gardens that the intellectuals in the past built for their own appreciation; one may also go to the northern part of Shaanxi Province to see the cave- houses on the Loess Plateau where one will hear the old, love folk songs sung by the herdsmen, not a show though, but a real depiction of the life of the local people....
