Memorial of the Nanjing Massacre
This memorial has outdoor exhibits, a historical museum and a building housing the remains of some of those killed during the World War II Japanese invasion of Nanjing. The exhibits in the museum document the atrocities committed by Japanese soldiers against the civilian population during the 1937 occupation. The only heartening exhibit in this otherwise grim museum, shows the improvement in Sino-Japanese relations with letters from Japanese schoolchildren apologizing for their country’s wartime aggression.
