Monument to Huaihai Campaign Martyrs
The Monument to Huaihai Campaign Martyrs is a revolutionary war memorial and obelisk that was opened in 1965. It commerates the Huaihai battle fought by the People’s Liberation Army from the end of 1948 to the beginning of 1949. Located in a large park on the southern edge of town, the obelisk is 38 meters (125ft) high and has gold inscription by Mao Zedong. The memorial hall contains exhibits of military equipment, photos, maps and other memorabilia as well as inscriptions by Chinese leaders.
