Temple of Confucius
Located on the northern bank of the Qinhuai River, the Temple of Confucius, built in 1034, is where people once worshipped the great philosopher. After experiencing destruction and repair for over a period of a 1,000 years, it now serves as a center for popular cultural activities. The surrounding area is an outdoor bazaar filled with shops, teahouses, bars and inns, many of which were restored to their original Ming and Qing styles. Visitors can sample many different traditional foods and local snacks in this bustling area.
