Baolun Temple

Introduction

Baolun Temple is found in what was the ancient city of Shaanzhou. The most interesting structure found in this temple is the 13 story brick pagoda which stands over 25 meters (82ft) high. First built in the Tang dynasty (618-907AD) and rebuilt in the Jin dynasty (1115-1234AD), the pagoda is a good platform to view the city and the Yellow River. The pagoda is also known as the ‘Frog Pagoda’, because when you clap your hands or tap a stone inside the pagoda, you can hear an echo much like the sound of a croaking frog.
