Ethnic Villages in Kaili
Kaili is the capital of Southeast Guizhou and the Miao and Dong Nationalities Autonomous Prefecture. The customs and lifestyles of the different nationalities from this region are rich and colorful and visitors can glimpse into their lives during the many ethnic festivals held here each year.
Most Miao and Dong villagers live in houses that lie over the water. Other interesting architectural elements found in the villages include high drum towers, pavilions, temples and bridges. Visitors to the villages will be warmly welcomed and in the evenings may be treated to rice wine and ethnic music and dance.
