Qingjing Mosque
Qingjing Mosque on Tumen Street was built in the Northern Song dynasty (960-1127AD). It is one of the oldest mosques in China and has an area of 2,100 sq meters. The mosque was entirely constructed from granite and is an exact copy of a mosque in Damascus in Syria. 3 gates form its grand main entrance which is 20 meters (66ft) high and 4.5 meters (15ft) wide. The niches in the exterior of the south wall and the wall of the altar are inscribed with Arabic passages from the Koran. There is an exhibition hall at the back of the mosque that provides some extra information about the development of Islam in Quanzhou.
