Great Wall at Huangya Pass
Huangyaguan is 170km (105 miles) north of Tianjin. The Great Wall was first constructed here in 556AD. Later, during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) it was completely redesigned and overhauled. The section of the Great Wall which remains here is 41km (25 miles) long. In addition to viewing the walls, terraces and turrets of the Great Wall there is a museum that includes a collection of modern steles (carved stone slabs) relating to the wall.
