Bamboo Temple is located 12km (7 miles) northwest of Kunming and is an especially colorful Buddhist temple. The temple dates back to the 13th century and is a fine example of a Yunnan style temple. Part of the appeal of Bamboo Temple are the 500 life-size 19th century Buddhist statues (Luohans), which were carved by the famous Sichuan sculptor, Li Guangxiu.
