Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, China had made Beijing its capital. Historians believe that the history of Beijing began over 3,000 years ago! Presently, Beijing is the political and cultural center of China where the offices of the central committee of the Chinese Government is located. |  | The Communist Party and the Chinese Government are all situated in Beijing. In addition, China's national-level cultural and art organizations are also situated in this province including the the Central Ballet Troop, China Beijing Opera House, the Chinese Writers' Association and the China Artists' Association. The well-known Tiananmen Square is also situated in the center of Beijing which has witnessed many of the changes that have taken place in the country from its ancient civilization. Standing there, one may recall many of China's great historical changes. Especially the incident that occured on October 1st, 1949 when the late Mao Tze Tong proclaimed in this place : 'The Chinese people have now stood up'. | |
