Located near Yonghe
Lamasery and Ditan
Park in northeast Beijing, Tangenyuan is a great restaurant
to enjoy a hearty meal after a day of exploring the nearby sights.
Decorated in the classical Chinese style, the aesthetic focal point
of the restaurant is the fine garden in the courtyard. Enter the
courtyard and walk along a maze of walkways lined with red lanterns
which snake through the gardens' fountains and rockeries.
The interior of the restaurant is equally
well decorated with antique paintings on the walls. The private
dining rooms are furnished with kang-traditional Chinese furniture,
made of clay, used for sitting and sleeping which could be heated
by fire. These kang are not common in modern Beijing and add a historical
feel to the restaurant. Servers are dressed in traditional clothes
and the service is impeccable.
The food ranges from simple Beijing style
snacks to home style cooking to full imperial banquets. Visitors
will be able to choose something to suit their palate and price
range. There are also traditional performances in the main hall.
