Moon
over The Bund
Moon
Festival is the most magical celebration in China.
Families gather to eat lavish meals and moon cakes
- round pastry cakes filled with red beans or
lotus paste.
The aim of the evening is to appreciate the moon's
beauty. Lanterns are lit, poems about the moon
are recited and everyone heads for the best viewpoint.
In 2000 Moon Festival or Mid Autumn Festival as
it is also known, falls on the evening of September
12, which is the 15th day of the 8th month of
the Year of the Dragon.
For
the visitor to Shanghai, The Bund is an enchanting
place to experience the festival. Buy a traditional
paper lantern or plastic cartoon creation and
head to the waterfront with what may seem like
most of Shanghai. If you prefer to watch the moon
and the festivities in comfort, then dinner at
M
on the Bund or a drink at the Shanghai
Night Bar the Peace Hotel will
make for an unforgettable evening.
