Suzhou's Classic Gardens

Classical Chinese gardens epitomize a grand more serene way of life and nowhere are gardens more beautiful than Suzhou. UNESCO recognized the splendor of these ancient gardens in 1997 when it made 4 of the city's 70 gardens World Heritage sites.

Suzhou can also easily be combined with visits to nearby Hangzhou or Nanjing and is approximately 3 hours by plane from Beijing or Hong Kong. More...

Best Time to Go
Spring and fall are the most colorful and temperatures are pleasant. During summer the lotus flowers are in full bloom but the weather can be hot and hazy.

Marco Polo was torn between Hangzhou and Suzhou and described these scenic cities as "Heaven on Earth". See both and decide for yourself which is more heavenly. More Hangzhou...
