National
Emblem
China's National Emblem incorporates 4 key elements - the red background
and yellow stars of China's National Flag, a wheel, a wheat head
and a relief of the Tiananmen Gate.
The elements of the National Flag, together with the wheel and wheat
head, symbolize the New China, with Communist leadership supported
by an alliance of workers and peasants.

The Tiananmen Gate symbolizes the May 4, 1919 movement led by Beijing
University Students whose demonstrations against imperialism lay
the foundation for the Chinese Communist Party.
The
National Emblem was designed by a group whose members included architect
Liang Sicheng, son of Liang Qichao, a politician in the late Qing
dynasty, and his wife Lin Huiyin, a famous Chinese poet of the 40s.
