Chi Lin Nunnery
Chi Lin Nunnery in Diamond Hill, was founded in the 1930s but was completely rebuilt in 2000. Built using the traditional architectural techniques of the Tang dynasty (618-907AD), no nails were used during construction and the grand timber Buddhist halls are held together by wooden brackets and dowelling.
Covering a space of 30,000 sq meters, Chi Lin Nunnery has strikingly beautiful statues of the Sakyamuni Buddha, the goddess of mercy Guanyin and other bodhisattvas. These statues are made from gold, clay, wood and stone.
