Golden Temple

(jindian)

Golden Temple is located at the top of Phoenix Song Mountain, about 11km (7 miles) northeast of Kunming. The roof of the Daoist temple is made from copper and in the sunlight it glistens like gold.

The present Golden Temple was designed by Wu Sangui during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). The temple is 7 meters (23ft) high and about 38 sq meters in area. Inside the temple there are Buddhist statues, inscribed boards, beams, pillars, well-screens and other decorations, which are all made of bronze.
