Zhaojue Temple was founded in the 7th century and is located in northeast Chengdu close to Chengdu zoo. Most of the temple dates back to the Qing dynasty (1644-1911AD) and many of the buildings were carefully restored in the 1980s. Today, a monastery of over 200 Buddhist monks thrives among the trees and courtyards of this temple.
