Shuanglin Monastery is located about 100km (62 miles) south of Taiyuan close to Pingyao Ancient City.

The temple comprises 10 halls grouped around 3 courtyards. The halls contain over 2,000 remarkable Buddhist terracotta and wood statues, which date back to the Song dynasty (960-1271) and the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368).
