Confucius Temple

Confucius is remembered and worshipped at the Confucius Temple located in the center of Qufu. Built in 478BC the temple complex covers an area of 22 hectares, has 9 courtyards and 466 rooms and halls laid out in symmetry along a north-south axis. The main hall is the Great Perfection Hall (dacheng) which has stone columns with bas-relief of clouds and dragons in front. The Apricot Terrace (xingtan) is where Confucius used to give lectures to his disciples.
