Great Mosque

This ancient mosque was built in 742AD and is situated in Huajue Xiang, the Muslim district of Xian. It is 1 of the 4 big ancient mosques in China. The mosque faces east and has a floor area of 4,000 sq meters and is situated in extensive grounds. The mosque is used daily by the Muslim and Hui people of Xian. Islam was first introduced by Arabian traders who traveled to Xian along the Silk Road during the Tang dynasty (618-907AD).
